The current main focus of Project Pisces is the making of "Blue Deserts", a documentary on how dams ruin coastal fisheries. Please consider donating to help this project.
Project Pisces and Blue Deserts are projects of the Dam-Reservoir Information & Impact Archive and the Dam-Reservoir Working Group.

Fish Under Siege
Project Pisces is the fish conservation project of the Dam-Reservoir Working Group. Dams are very damaging for fisheries, not just along impounded rivers and at the sites where the dams are built but also far down river at the seas.
The Dam-Reservoir Working Group has worked since 1994 to raise public awareness of the problem of inland, estuarine, and coastal depletion of fishery resources caused by water impoundment projects. Not every fish is like the tilapia which prefers still waters.
For many fish species, like the sturgeon, and the salmonids, like trout, whitefish and salmon, dams block migration routes which spells disaster for these fish. At the very best extirpation - which is a local extinction - and at the worst extinction.
